Women Build is Coming to Spartanburg
Join Us and Get Involved!

The Spartanburg Women Build home will be constructed at 205 Amelia Street in Spartanburg. The project will kick off on Saturday, July 9, 2011, which will be the first day of construction. Teams of women volunteers from the Spartanburg area will raise the exterior walls. The Women Build home will complete a five-home Habitat community known as Habitat at Cleveland Park.
The Women Build project team challenges local women to devote at least one day in the effort to help eliminate poverty housing in our community.
The Family
Taffy Pearson is a single mother of three. She has one daughter who is serving in the Navy, and two sons, Elijah [16] and Tyrese [7]. Taffy is very excited to be chosen to receive the WOMEN BUILD home and plans to work alongside volunteers as her home is being constructed. Taffy is a delightful young woman who is a hard worker. She is committed to being a good homeowner and a great mother! Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg is pleased to be able to give Taffy a hand up in her quest to secure a home for herself and her children.
It is easy to volunteer for this worthwhile project. Simply go to the Home Page of this website and look for the Habitat calendar. Beginning in July, there will be several Women Build events scheduled each week. Sign up for a day and a shift of your choice. Our Volunteer Coordinator will respond will all pertinent details. Consider having a friend sign up too. You will have a good time and leave with a feeling of satisfaction. We are sure that after volunteering once, you will want to return and help multiple times on the Women Build project. You may be able to meet Taffy Pearson, the future homeowner, when you volunteer. She will be able to tell you about her experiences on the way to becoming a Habitat homeowner.
Frequently we are asked "ARE MEN EXCLUDED FROM WOMEN BUILD PROJECTS?" Absolutely not!! Women Build isn't about excluding anyone. It is about including women and opening new doors of opportunity. Men are often involved in our training programs and build projects in supportive roles, and also as subcontractors when needed.
Individual Donor - $25 suggested donation
Each volunteer is encouraged to support the Women Build by becoming an individual donor. Since the Women Build is a collaborative fundraising task we are asking volunteers to consider making a donation to help financially support the Women Build. If every volunteer who participates in the build donated $25 we could raise an additional $5,000.
