Each local Habitat affiliate operates as an independent nonprofit organization, and in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. Like our local Spartanburg affiliate, Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Today, Habitat has helped build or repair more than 800,000 houses and served more than 4 million people around the world. Habitat invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building homes with families in need.
