Habitats Spartanburg and Cherokee Team Up for 2019 Partner Build

Written By: Lynne Shackleford - October 29th, 2019

Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg and Habitat for Humanity of Cherokee County are collaborating to build a new, affordable home in Chesnee for the Foster family.
Habitat Spartanburg has previously partnered with Habitat Greenville on the 2016 BMW Home Build.
"There are many advantages to partnering with another Habitat affiliate," said. Lee Close, Executive Director of Habitat Spartanburg. "This particular location is in a fantastic neighborhood and is halfway between Spartanburg and Cherokee County, so it's convenient for volunteers of both counties."
The 2019 Partner Build, located at 204 S. Cash Avenue, is sponsored by the JM Smith Foundation ($50,000 sponsor), BMW Plant Spartanburg, United Way of the Piedmont, Broad River Electric Cooperative through the Operation Round Up Grant, and the Timken Foundation.
Since the Build began in late September, volunteer groups have included AFL, Freightliner, Limestone College, USC Upstate, Wells Fargo, Converse College, LCF Water District, Polydeck, Bank of America, Venture Measurement, Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union, Chesnee High School, Celanese and Chapman High School. Gaffney High School is expected to come out in December.
