Joe Walker has been involved with Habitat Spartanburg since 2009. He started as a construction assistant before being promoted to construction supervisor. Joe, a Licensed Residential Home Builder, has a background in construction and became interested in Habitat after volunteering on several Denny's Home Builds.

When the ReStore Manager opportunity arose, Joe thought the ReStore could provide another outlet for him to serve the Lord through Habitat.

Since he started as Manager in October 2013, ReStore revenues have doubled due largely to Joe's merchandising strategy and teamwork.

"The ReStore associates do an exceptional job," Joe said. "The guys on the truck -- they're on the front lines of our retail operation -- and the associates in the store work hard to make sure customers are satisfied and feel uplifted when they leave."

ReStore revenues support Habitat Spartanburg's mission so when customers shop -- it allows Habitat to serve more families.

"Customers expect a neat and clean store and we work very hard to make sure they have a wonderful shopping experience," Joe said. Joe and his team have expanded the ReStore Auction -- which is open for silent bidding during the week and culminates with a live auction every other Saturday.

"When I think about the work we do here, we give the Lord all the credit for the work he is doing," Joe said. "I'm blessed to work here in a Christian environment -- everyday here is a blessing."

Joe lives in Spartanburg with his wife, Melissa, and their two "babies," Archer and Blue. Joe, also an Associate Minister with Truth Chapel, is a featured minister on 92.1 FM on Mondays at 4 p.m.
