Home Ownership : Overview
Apply for a Home
Are you interested in purchasing a home?
Are looking for a safe, decent home at a reasonable price?
Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg has the answer for you!
Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that builds simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with Spartanburg families in need. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to apply to be a homeowner. Your down payment on the home is 400 hours of "sweat equity". At close, you will assume a 20 year, no interest mortgage. Thus, Habitat offers you a hand up and not a hand out.
Informational meetings several times a year for those interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner. If you would like to find out more about this opportunity, please call our office and let us know of your interest. We will take your contact information and let you know when the next meeting is scheduled.
There are three basic requirements to become a Habitat homeowner:
➢ You must demonstrate the need to move from substandard housing to a decent, affordable home of your own.
➢ You must have income sufficient to pay the mortgage, insurance and taxes.
➢ You must show a willingness to partner with us by contributing 400 hours of "sweat equity" toward the building of your home and have sufficient income to maintain your home and stay current with your mortgage payments. Your payments allow us to provide homes for other families.
Please call 864-591-2221 EXT 104 or send an email to teresa.putman@habitatspartanburg.org if you feel you might qualify and you would like to hear more. We look forward to hearing from you.
Everyone deserves a safe, decent home.
